In her artworks, Chen ingeniously replicates this relationship, employing materials such as sulfur, copper, and silver foils to craft a distinctive silver coral ring. This ring, through its discolouration reaction, mirrors the dynamic state of coral systems. It showcases the vibrant dichotomy of coral in both its flourishing and bleached conditions. When worn, the ring offers an illusion of coral burgeoning from one's hand, subtly diminishing the boundaries between humans and the natural world.

Xiyi Chen
Xiyi Chen, a jewellery artist from Zhejiang, China, now resides in London. After earning her BA in Fashion Product Design from the China Academy of Art in 2021, she showcased the 'Girl's Rebellion' collection. Currently, she's completing her MA in Jewellery & Metal at the Royal College of Art.
Chen's work draws inspiration from ancient proverbs, exploring the intersection of literature and art. She employs jewellery as a medium to interpret the wisdom of age-old quotations, merging the past with the present. For Chen, jewellery transcends physical form, revealing the essence of philosophical insights. She masterfully bridges time, using age-old wisdom as a foundation for modern narratives.
