Arashi Abe skillfully employs the 'take higo' technique, splitting bamboo into thin strands to craft a stool bound with hemp twine and joined by water-based wood glue. This design creates an optical illusion, appearing fuzzy and static from different angles. As viewers shift perspectives, the overlapping bamboo strands and hemp cords deceive the eye, making the stool visually emerge from its surroundings.

Using materials from hardware and stationery stores, Abe's sturdy bamboo stool appears delicate. It is made from 399 strands of 3.0 mm bamboo and 252 strands of 1.8 mm bamboo. Innovative design repurposes bamboo, addressing environmental concerns and highlighting bamboo's potential, aiming to raise awareness about this abundant yet underutilized material.
