HiTENCHO's "Alvin Chair" and "VOTT Speaker" were designed for hotel rooms and theatres. The Alvin Chair, inspired by hotel aesthetics and architecture, features curved staircase elements and classical sculptures. Constructed from steel, plaster, and foam, it balances form and function. The VOTT Speaker, influenced by iconic speakers, uses larch plywood and polyurethane foam, with metallic spray for visual dynamism.

The "Alvin Chair" and "VOTT Speaker" by HiTENCHO were designed for an exhibition, specifically considering settings such as a hotel room and a theatre. Inspired by the dual private and public nature of hotel spaces, the Alvin Chair employs an architectural structure in its form, echoing the aesthetics of typical hotel room dining furniture. Its design features elements inspired by curved staircases, and the armrests are adorned with sculptures that evoke classical architecture. Made from steel sheets, pigmented plaster boards, and carved EPS foam, the chair offers a harmonious fusion of form and functionality.

The "VOTT Speaker," also by HiTENCHO, draws inspiration from iconic Altec Lansing and JBL 15” speakers. It uses larch plywood and polyurethane foam as core materials. A metallic spray enhances the wood's grain, creating a dynamic visual effect dependent on light and viewing angles. The application of mixed polyurethane foam continues the design approach from HiTENCHO's previous POP series' from 2019, reflecting a consistent evolution in design philosophy.

HITENCHO is a design studio based in Seoul, Korea, operated by designer Cho Sang-heyon. Born in Seoul in 1979, Cho graduated from the Master's program at Design Academy Eindhoven in 2010. He currently resides and works in Seoul.

Cho Sang-heyon is passionate about merging the controllability of the production process with the discovery of unexpected random images, structures, and mixed shapes. He is particularly fascinated by cymatics, a scientific phenomenon that visualizes sound, revealing previously unseen patterns. Cymatics showcases the living patterns of motion that emerge when liquids vibrate, resulting in unique and unusual formations. This phenomenon underscores the impact of sound on matter, illustrating that matter is shaped by vibration.
